Welcome to Tales of Kenah

A girl is taken from Earth, changed into a Dragon, and put on Kenah. The Maker, Kenah's god, instructs her to find and conquer "he who dims the light," but the planet's nature doesn't allow Her to stay long and She quickly vanishes. Xeari has to learn first how to be a Dragon, then all the differences between Kenah and Earth, and finally defeat the one the Maker mentioned, the Dark Dragon. She doesn't particularly want to conquer anyone. She only wants to get home, but she figures she'll probably have to do what the Maker asked of her anyway.

The path to Xeari's enemy isn't all flowers and rainbows. There are those that support the Dark Dragon's ideals. Some try to convince others to see their side of the argument. Some are willing to take down anyone who opposes them in any way they can. Xeari and those she bands with must dodge or defeat these Followers as well as collect enough power to defeat the Dark Dragon. It's a long quest riddled with such trials as pirates who trip while flying, glowing orbs under trees that can think for themselves, and ninjas lacking in organization skills. Besides having many difficulties, this journey might just be a little weird.

Fan Expo Canada

It's been a while since I posted news.

Ugh, sorry about the lack of update... my scanner STILL isn't plugged in and I can't progress without it! *gah* I SWEAR I'll get the page done by next Monday. OKAY!?

In other news, I'll be at Fan Expo Canada in Toronto tomorrow. If you're going, look for me! My nametag will say XeaRi (with Hex in brackets).

Fear not, for I have returned! Er, sorta.

Slowly but surely Tales of Kenah is resuming. I put up page 57 yesterday. I really want to get the story going, and every comic page takes so long to complete that I'm not really getting very far. So I've decided not to shade and tone pages until I deem myself far enough into the story to slow down a bit. I'll still have important screentones like speed lines that I feel help readers understand what's going on.
The thing is, I just know that even without shading and toning, the comic will still go slowly. I'm having trouble figuring out how to layout the pages 1) because it's a fight scene and those are hard and it's my first proper one, and 2) I haven't done thumbnails in a while and kinda forget how to make up a page. xP
...I just lost my train of thought... so... gonna go work on the comic now, hm? ^^

Hiatus biz.

Yeah, so remember I went on hiatus, like, an era ago? Well, I'm still on hiatus. But I'm getting fed up with myself because I both want to and don't want to work on the comic. Like, in the moment I'm too lazy, but in the long run I just want it to be done. I don't want comicking to become a chore, because then I'd stop. I want the comic to keep going. I thought maybe updating would help motivate me, so you get a page. I'll try to work as much as I can as soon as I can.
Sorry for not updating the news here more. But I think the comic will start up again soon. Hopefully. Maybe. >.>'

Uhm. Stuff.

Yeah, so ToK is on hiatus. See the Drunkduck site for details. I'll resume in a bit; I honestly hate the fact that I'm not moving ahead in the story like I wanted to, but I really think I could use this break.
Another thing. SoulSpy hath died. Chi-Cloud has found that life (something of which I have none) is being busy, and doesn't think she'd be able to manage the comic. I don't have time to draw it, so SoulSpy, which hadn't even really started, is over. Since I have Tales of Kenah to do as well as another project I'm starting with my friend "Renmiu," SoulSpy may not ever start. I may in time look for someone else to do it, but I doubt I'll be able to do much more than write and do character sheets.
Meh. That's my rant. Be prepared for my story with Renmiu. It'll be great! It's a shonen-ai (aka BL) story set on a different world, with anthro people like the Wevlynq of ToK, only cooler, and the carnivores are oppressing the herbivores, only the main character, a falcon guy, is in love with a mouse guy. Yup. That's the one-sentence storyline. Ish. Anyway.

Poll!

I'm having my friend "Renmiu" help me by reading through the written version of Tales of Kenah and basically be my editor. She also supplies ideas because she's good at that. Go mosey on over to her user page. She'll have a comic up soon; she only just joined a few minutes ago, after all.
Renmiu is the third person to read the written ToK. Now, I know from experience that I as a person don't handle criticism all that well. But I'll do my best, and I know it's good for me in the long run. Anyway, I'm wondering whether anyone else would like to read it. I constantly edit it, so what you read today might not be what's there a week from now, or even tomorrow. For that reason I've put it online so that Renmiu can see the updated version when she needs to.
I'm still deciding whether to make it available to the public, so I've made a poll upon which you can vote. I know it's early; I know not a lot of people follow my comic. But I'm going to leave the poll up a while and think about it. If I get a lot of "yes" votes I'll definitely do it. I may still do it if I don't get votes, but this lets me know what others would think.

Whee!

I felt like making a short newspost because I haven't since the beginning (as far as I can remember... I'm too lazy to check). Firstly, tomorrow we hit 50 pages! I coloured that page for the occasion. More random ranting tomorrow in the author's notes.
Secondly, Tuesday is the last day of page-a-day updates due to the fact that we've caught up to DrunkDuck. Now you get updates whenever I have them. For the summer I'm trying to update as often as possible; currently it's not working. ^^' I'm still doing at least two pages a week. Basically if I get a page done by Saturday or Sunday then I may skip Monday. If I don't then I'll put one up on Monday. If I get another page before Friday then I'll skip Friday; if I don't then the update is on Friday. Make sense? Sorta? Ish? Not really? ... Meh.
Thirdly, I made a new banner. The first one was bugging me in its boringness. This one has the main character as well as Ciaran, just because he's cool. He's my advertisement guy because he's the coolest of the lot, but of course I had to have Xeari in there too.
By the way, the banner is sort of a spoiler for the rest of the story because Ciaran is actually an important character. But you don't know that. You never saw this. You sneaky highlighter, you.

ToK is here!

Tales of Kenah is now being hosted on SmackJeeves! The main place to find it is on DrunkDuck, but I've decided to put it here for now. One page a day will go up until it catches up with DrunkDuck, at which point it will, just like DD, update twice a week. You can also find other information on ToK and Kenah on my Freewebs page. It's a bit empty now but as the comic progresses more information will be revealed. For now, I revel (I think that's the right word) in the fact that ToK will show up on SmackJeeves' front page every day for a month! Huzzah!

You must realize that my drawing abilities have already improved since October when I started this comic for the second time (first time it got 16 pages). Bear with the art of the first pages; just like all other comics, it gets better. I admit I still have to work quite a bit on it, but it's definitely better than it was last year. Just you watch; it'll get even better!
